A Work of Art

IDSC00493 300x225 A Work of Art’m always looking at things when I’m driving. Now don’t be upset. It’s not that I’m not paying attention to my driving and I’m all over the road. I am…taking in everything I see. I notice the trees, thinking that some look more powerful and stronger than others. Some trees have character. I notice colors and textures.  I notice how the light can create amazing views. I also notice buildings. Every once in a while I might take pictures of friends and family and it’s nice to recall interesting textures in buildings that would add character to the photos.

So many times we think that new things are the best things. I find that the best photos come from buildings and areas that have ‘weathered the storm’. Buildings that aren’t perfect, buildings that have missing blocks, bricks or mortar. Structures that have paint missing, weathered or chipped.

As a society, we have creams, shots and surgeries to make us supposedly look better. I’m sure you have seen people and thought they looked so much better before they had the plastic surgery or botox injections. I admit that I use essential oils and feel since using them on my face, my complexion has gotten better over the years. I hate the thought of every having surgery, but they always say… ‘never say never’… however I don’t have the desire or see a facelift in my future.

Just like nature, I believe we are beautiful just the way we are.  We all have imperfections, we have bumps, bruises and possibly scars from life’s challenges. However, I think all of those imperfections, bumps and bruises give us character and make us beautiful. None of us were born perfect. Even the most beautiful child you’ve ever seen is not perfect.

Like the structures I see, that have weathered the storm over the years, adding beauty and dimension to a photo… the events we go thru, the dings in our life add to the beauty of who we are.

Stop believing you must be ‘perfect’ to go somewhere, be someone or do something. God knew what he was creating when he created you…. a work of art.

Blessings throughout the coming week,
